Description

The TC8800 is a 4-to-28 Channel Telephone Fiber Optic Multiplexer that converts 2-wire FXS (foreign exchange subscriber) to fiber optics on the telephone side with ring down capability and FXO (foreign exchange office) on the PBX side. In addition to the telephone channels, it can also support RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, TTL, and Dry Contact interfaces. Each telephone and data channels can be mixed and matched up to a maximum of 28 channels (seven cards). The interfaces are divided up in increments of four channels per card. Since the TC8800 digitizes the analog signals (PCM), voice quality does not degrade over extended distances. Distances up to 30km* are typical over single mode fiber, 4km over multimode fiber.

Diagnostics LEDs for each channel includes Tx, Rx, FXO, FXS, Ring, VccA, VccB, PWR A and PWR B. Power redundancy is standard, optical redundancy is optional. Fiber optic connectors are ST or FC. Electrical connectors are RJ-11. Power is standard 115/230VAC; Optional 24VDC or -48VDC. The TC8800 requires the TCRM197 19” Rackmount Card Cage with one power card.

The TC8800 is based on modern FPGA (field programmable gate array) technology. As a result, it benefits users by enabling optimum flexibility, low current consumption, high reliability and maximum MTBFs.

The TC8800 is frequently used to link/extend telephone lines between two building. It is also used in harsh environments where ground loops, EMI/RFI interference and lightning conditions may occur.
